We look forward to welcoming you to the Kepler's Summer Block Party! Join us for a joyful, all-ages block party. If you filled out the Kepler’s passport, come by to get your passport stamped and a piece of cake.

Program:

2:00 – Welcome & Open Activities Grab a drink, browse, and jump into crafts and passport celebration

2:30 – Story Time Group reading of Her Right Foot

3:00 – Banner Making & Customs Station Open Stamp your right foot, contribute to the community banner, and share your story

3:30 – Community Remarks and Cake Cutting! Brief remarks about the Community Reads program + ways to stay involved

We will kick off our Community Reads program—a shared reading initiative celebrating connection, curiosity, and the many stories that make up our communities—with a reading of our featured book, Dave Eggers’ Her Right Foot. Copies available for purchase here!

Activities include:

Summer Reading Passport Celebration – Celebrate the journeys you took through books this summer

“Customs Station” Activity – Share where your reading took you and/or reflect on your family’s immigration stories in a welcoming, optional storytelling space

Zine-Making Station – Learn how to make a zine like your summer passport! The zine you make could be your next reading journal!

Story Time – A live reading of Her Right Foot for all ages

Community Banner Craft – Help us create a collaborative banner by stamping your right foot and adding your mark to the day, our bookstore, and our community

Community Connection – Meet neighbors, share stories, and help launch a program rooted in access and belonging

Food & Drinks – Light bites and refreshments to keep the celebration going

What is Community Reads? The goal of Community Reads is to broaden our mission to engage, enrich, and inspire our community through literature. We especially love the Community Reads program because it encapsulates the very essence of our existence: to connect us all through great books, engage in meaningful conversations and motivate us to bring social changes. Community Reads is an immersive experience in which the whole community comes together to read the same book simultaneously, participate in book club discussions, and develop greater understanding of our human condition.
